Energy services outfit Wood Group has won a "major" new contract with French oil giant Total in the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS).

The FTSE 250 group did not give exact financial details but said its PSN division was awarded a five-year, multimillion-dollar contract which includes the option for two one-year extensions.

Total is paying PSN for engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning services at four offshore assets and two onshore facilities in the UKCS.

PSN has been providing these services to the Alywn, Dunbar, Elgin and Franklin platforms and the St Fergus Gas Terminal for the last 12 years.

The contract also covers support for the Shetland Gas Plant, the onshore receiving facility for Laggan Tormore, which will start production later this year.

"Our knowledge and in-depth understanding of this key client's needs, and our strong commitment to working safely, collaboratively, innovatively and efficiently to maximise productivity of these assets, helped us to secure this contract," said PSN UK managing director Dave Stewart.

"We look forward to continuing our long-standing partnership with Total in the UKCS."

Wood Group was trading 1.7% higher at 655p by 08:20 on Tuesday.
