WPP’s wholly-owned public relations and public affairs firm H+K Strategies has agreed to buy all the assets of Canadian public engagement practice Acertys for an undisclosed sum.

Acertys is based in Montreal and its clients include public and private sector organisations working in urban development, real estate, transportation energy and natural resources.

The media giant said the deal will add to H+K Strategies’ public engagement practice in Canada.

“This investment continues WPP's strategy of investing in important regions and sectors such as public relations and public affairs,” the company said.

In Canada, WPP companies including associates and investments generate revenues of almost $500m (£341m), while in North America they generate revenues of over $7bn.

At 1551 GMT, WPP shares were up 1.6% to 1,542p.
