WPP's Kantar buys Ireland's Newsaccess

Kantar Media, the data investment management arm of WPP, has acquired Irish multi-channel media monitoring provider Newsaccess.

Founded in 2005, Newsaccess employs around 20 people and has its headquarters in Dublin. Its revenues for the year ended 31 December 2015 were around €2.3m, with gross assets of approximately €1.8m.

WPP said the acquisition will enhance Kantar’s reputation, PR monitoring and evaluation capabilities, bringing to clients an expanding set of insights and expertise into earned media.

Worldwide, WPP's data investment management companies including associates and investments collectively generate revenues of about $5bn and employ around 36,000 people. In Ireland, WPP companies generate revenues of nearly $75 million and employ over 500 people.

At 1527 GMT, the shares were down 0.2% to 1,841p.
