'Creep' Trump made my skin crawl, Hillary Clinton says

Defeated US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said that Donald Trump made her 'skin crawl' during a televised debate in last year’s election campaign.

Describing Trump as a ‘creep’, Clinton said that the current US President had made her feel uncomfortable in the second debate between the pair, which saw the two rivals trading insults.

Reading from an excerpt of her new book 'What Happened', Clinton told MSNBC she did not know how to deal with Trump days after it emerged he had boasted of inappropriately touching women.

Trump went on to defeat the former secretary of state in what is widely considered as one of the biggest upsets in modern political history.

“Two days before, the world heard him brag about groping women. Now we were on a small stage and no matter where I walked, he followed me closely, staring at me, making faces,” Clinton told the US network.

"It was incredibly uncomfortable. He was literally breathing down my neck. My skin crawled."

The Republican was forced to apologise after the comments he made in 2005 were released, but added that they were no more than 'locker room talk'.

"It was one of those moments where you wish you could hit pause and ask everyone watching: 'Well, what would you do?'" Clinton added.

"Do you stay calm, keep smiling and carry on as if he weren’t repeatedly invading your space? Or do you turn, look him in the eye, and say loudly and clearly: 'Back up, you creep, get away from me! I know you love to intimidate women, but you can’t intimidate me, so back up.'"

During the campaign, Trump had threatened to bring charges against the former first lady for her use of a private email server during her time in the administration under Barack Obama.

The President has had to deal with a chaotic opening period in the Oval Office, with several setbacks including legislative defeats and an ongoing investigation into his campaign’s links with Russia.
