Jeremy Corbyn seems to be going nowhere for now. The Labour leader released a video through his Twitter account on Monday with a defiant call for togetherness for all his party's members.

Corbyn has received scathing criticism and come under intense pressure to quit following what some have called a lacklustre campaign to try to keep Britain in the European Union.

Despite several Labour politicians resigning in the aftermath of the UK's decision to exit the EU, Corbyn has reiterated his determination to remain as the head of the Labour party.

The wider party membership seems to still be in support of Corbyn however, as 60,000 new members have joined the party since the referendum result.

"I have a huge responsibility," Corbyn said. "I'm carrying out that responsibility. I want to reach out to all our members, all our supporters, all our trade union affiliates, and to my colleagues in parliament. Come together now to oppose this Tory government."

Corbyn pointed out their success in by-elections in the last year as evidence of how Labour has the potential to beat the Torys in the next general election.

"We have won every parliamentary by-election, some with vastly increased majorities, and two thirds of our supporters voted to Remain."

He made a last-ditch appeal for unity in the party as Britain goes through its most uncertain age in politics for decades.

"When we do things together we are very strong," Corbyn added.

Corbyn uploaded the video arounds the same time that Labour MP Angela Eagle announced that she would run against the leader in a leadership contest if he did not resign.
