FTSE 100 movers: Evraz rallies; Fresnillo loses its shine
London's FTSE 100 was flat at 7,423.95 in afternoon trade on Wednesday as investors weighed up signs of progress in Sino-US trade relations against more dovish signals from the Federal Reserve.
Steelmaker Evraz rallied after the largest steelmaker in the US, Nucor, hiked its prices.
Imperial Brands was up despite news that San Francisco on Tuesday became the first US city to ban e-cigarette sales. The ban is set to remain in place until more is known about vaping's impact on health.
On the downside, precious metals miner Fresnillo lost its shine, having gained sharply earlier in the week as gold prices hit a six-year high.
Distribution and outsourcing group Bunzl fell as it said expectations for 2019 remain unchanged, with overall trading consistent with the slowing underlying revenue growth indicated at the first-quarter trading update.
Severn Trent was in the red even as Jefferies initiated coverage of the stock at 'buy'.
