Housebuilders pushed the FTSE 100 into positive territory on Friday.

Berkeley Homes, Barratt Developments, Persimmon and Taylor Wimpey all bounced back from lower levels, while Land Securities also rose on the back of sector momentum.

Retailers Dixons Carphone and Marks & Spencer were also riding the market's bounce.

On the red side of the screen, oil majors suffered in line with the weaker crude price. Royal Dutch Shell shares were down almost 1%.

Pharmaceutical shares were also out of favour, with AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline and Shire all lower. Shares in US drug firm Juno plunged overnight after the US Food and Drug Administration placed a cancer study on hold when three patients died.
