London's FTSE 250 index charged ever higher during Monday's session, boosted by the Euro Summit agreement made with Greece. By just after 16:00 the UK's second line equity index was up 1.24% at 17,702.4 points.

Shooting up on a natural high, chemicals group Alent whizzed more than 40% higher on news that US peer Platform Specialty Products will buy the company for around $1.35bn in cash.

Others on the leader board included Just Eat, the online takeaway food specialist, which scooted up on the back of a note from JPMorgan that named it a top pick in European online space.

Going the wrong was, fast, was International Personal Finance after revealing that profits at its Polish arm could be in danger after a surprise vote in Poland's lower parliament to cap all non-interest costs on consumer loans. Shares in the company lost more than 20% after analysts said it could have a "significant detrimental impact" on the company's profitability in the country.

Platinum miner Lonmin continued its recent fall, accelerating perhaps after Friday's UBS note that downgraded the shares to 'sell', citing likely downside "even if platinum group metals (PGM) prices recover".
