FTSE 250 movers: Aston Martin, Travel names pace gains
Stocks on the second-tier index jumped on Tuesday, led by a mix of Autos&Parts and Travel names.
Aston Martin Lagonda continued to roll higher, tracking the recent recovery in the wider sector across Europe on hopes that vaccines will allow a return to something closer to normality over the next few months.
Underscoring that optimism, after the close of markets, AstraZeneca would announce solid results for its vaccine against the novel coronavirus from a larger data set of volunteers participating in its clinical trials.
To take note of, data regarding the vaccine's efficacy against the new virus strains was set to published over the next few days.
Hopes that governments around the world would be able to stem the pandemic and remain ahead of the virus also fed gains in the likes of Carnival, SSP Group, Trainline.
Nevertheless, the lender said that it also retained a "cautious" economic outlook "given the current UK-wide restrictions and ongoing uncertainty."
Rank Group stock was also higher and quickly approaching multi-year highs.
Precious metals miners were lower alongside, as traders' questioned the previous day's surge in silver futures and the wider ongoing tug-of-war between retail investors and some of Wall Street's better known hedge fund names.
