FTSE 250 movers: Domino's gains on US earnings beat

London’s FTSE 250 was up 1.2% to 18,012.88 in afternoon trade.

Domino’s Pizza was boosted by earnings from Domino’s Pizza US, which posted a 25% increase in third-quarter profit, with same-store sales up 13%. The company reported earnings per share of $0.96, which was comfortably ahead of forecasts of $0.90, while revenue rose 17%.

Restaurant Group shares rose after its chief executive and chief financial officers bought shares in the company.

Halfords was also on the front foot. Nicholas Hyett, equity analyst at Hargreaves Lansdown, pointed out that some of the domestic stocks that have been struggling in recent weeks, such as Halfords, have benefitted from Tuesday’s sterling rally.

Housebuilder Bellway racked up healthy gains after reporting a rise in full-year profit as it lifted its dividend and said demand has remained solid despite the Brexit vote.

In the year to the end of July, pre-tax profit rose 40.6% to £497.9m on revenue of £2.24bn, up from £1.77bn. The number of homes sold rose by 12.5% to 8,721, which was a new record and the group’s seventh successive year of volume growth. Meanwhile, the average selling price was up 12.9% to £252,793.

The company lifted its total dividend per share by 40% to 108p.

Temporary power provider Aggreko rallied after Exane BNP Paribas upped its stance on the stock to ‘neutral’ from ‘underperform’.
