FTSE 250 movers: Mediclinic moves higher; St Modwen slides

London’s FTSE 250 was flat at 17,499.90 in afternoon trade on Wednesday.

Private healthcare company Mediclinic was the standout performer after it said the operating performances at its Hirslanden and Middle East sites were ahead of the prior year in June.

Computacenter surged as it said adjusted first-half pre-tax profit turned out to be "substantially ahead" of the same period last year.

Payment services group Paypoint was trading up even as it reported a decline in first-quarter revenue as strength in the UK retail services business was offset by weakness in bill payments. In the three months to the end of June, group net revenue fell 6.6% to £26.8m.

UK retail services net revenue rose 10.3% to £10.8m, driven by the increase in card payments and service fees from the PayPoint One roll-out. However, bill payments revenue was down 28.2% to £8.2m.

Property developer St Modwen was weaker after saying it swung to a first-half loss and was cutting its dividend following a writedown in asset valuations on sites in Wales.
