FTSE 250 movers: OneSavings higher on Investec comments, Wood Group hit by downgrade
Updated : 15:44
Mid caps were in the red on Friday, as gains made by retailer and telecommunications stocks were overshadowed by Greece's looming critical weekend.
As of 15:30 BST, the FTSE 250 was trading 0.7% lower at 17,829.
OnseSavings Bank led the risers as Investec gave the stock a ‘buy’ rating and a price target of 365p in initial coverage. It forecast 28% loan growth or £1.1bn in 2015, marginally ahead of guidance, in a note to clients.
Telecom Plus extended gains for the fourth consecutive day, which followed the multi-utility provider confirming that trading was in line with expectations and posting an increase in annual pre-tax profits on Tuesday.
Energy services outfit Wood Group declined after analysts at Beaufort Securities lowered their rating on the stock to ‘hold’, while sector peer Petrofac fell after being cut to ‘sell’ at Deutsche Bank.
Lonmin dipped as a report slammed its treatment of employees during the Marikana massacre. A government inquiry found it did not do enough to protect workers in 2012 when 46 people were shot by police during a mine strike.
Jimmy Choo continued to decline, on ongoing reports that founder Tamara Mellon could launch a legal battle against the firm on grounds of anti-competitive behaviour damaging her new label, Tamara Mellon Brand.
