FTSE 250 movers: PE investors in focus as index stride ahead
London stocks were firmly higher as investors eyed a panel discussion at the European Central Bank's semi-annual policy retreat in Sintra, Portugal, in which several of the world's top central bankers would participate.
The FTSE 250 index was up 1.72% to 18,366.51. Both Bank of England Governor, Andrew Bailey, and the Fed's Jerome Powell would participate on the panel, as well as Bank of Japan head Kazuo Ueda.
With little corporate or economic news to drive the markets private equity investors came to the fore on hopes that a clear direction on future monetary policy could provide some stability.
Bridgepoint, Molten Ventures and International Public Partnerships all made gains.
