FTSE 250 movers: Rathbones hit by Barclays downgrade, Aston Martin at fresh highs

Rathbones Group was at the bottom of the pile on the second-tier index after analysts at Barclays downgraded its shares from 'equalweight' to 'underweight'.

"Valuations for UK wealth stocks have fallen as a result of short-term pressures on growth," they said.

"We take a longer-term view, launching an 'industrial ranking' framework of structural winners where valuation has become attractive."

As an aside, in the same research note Barclays upgraded its stance on St.James's Place and AJ Bell to 'overweight' and 'equalweight'. respectively.

The share price drop came amid broad-based declines, especially among UK-focused lenders and building relates stocks following the release of worse-than-expected consumer price figures for May.

Before that data financial markets had already been pricing in a terminal rate of near 6%.

Shares of Aston Martin Lagonda however were racing in the other direction, notching up a fresh 52-week high in the process.
