FTSE 250 movers: Stobart flies higher ahead of results; Amigo rallies

London's FTSE 250 index was up 0.4% to 19,206.97 in afternoon trade on Tuesday.

Southend airport owner Stobart Group was the top gainer ahead of its annual results on Wednesday. Earlier this year, Stobart bought struggling airline Flybe in a consortium with Virgin Atlantic.

Lender Amigo Holdings, which charges interest rates of 49.9%, was a high riser after it posted a 38.3% jump in full-year adjusted profit after tax to £100.1m as customer numbers grew 23.1% to 224,000.

The company also said revenue rose 28.4% on the year to £270.7m, beating analysts' expectations of £258.1m.

Numis said the results were "strong", with "industry leading numbers in all dynamic areas".

"The shares are very cheap being valued at 9.8x the now historic earnings of 22.0p (which was 7.8% ahead of our forecast of 20.4p) where the underlying EPS growth was 21.5%," the broker said. "The market remains concerned about regulation and while a risk, we believe it is no more of a risk for Amigo that the other specialist lenders."

Housebuilder Galliford Try advanced after saying it had rejected a bid from rival Bovis Homes as the offer was not in the interests of all shareholders. Bovis wanted to buy Galliford’s Linden Homes and Partnerships & Regeneration arm in exchange for new Bovis shares.

The deal would have meant that Galliford would remain an independent UK-listed group focused on construction.
