Nature Group chairman Nigel Sandy to step down

Nature Group chairman Nigel Sandy has advised the company’s board of his intention to step down.

In a statement to the London Stock Exchange on Monday, the AIM-listed maritime and offshore waste company said Sandy will remain as non-executive director until the 2016 Annual General Meeting when he will leave the Board.

Berend van Straten, an experienced oil and gas executive and non-executive director of Nature Group since the spring of 2015, will take up the role of chairman, it added.

Jan Vesseur, CEO of Nature Group, said, “We would like to thank Nigel Sandy for his unwavering support and guidance in these past years. His understanding of, and efforts on behalf of, the business have proved invaluable in helping us to weather recent challenges.

“We will miss him dearly as a strong supporter of our group mission [of Clean Seas] and someone who has always looked for the human aspect in our work."
