Robert Walters second quarter lifted by Asia and Europe

Recruitment specialist Robert Walters said it performed well in its second quarter, with gross profit rising 16% to £69.3m.

The contribution from Asia Pacific was up 14% to £29.4m, while from UK it rose 7% to £21.6m. That from Europe was ahead 37% to £15.4m, while Other International rose 2% to £2.9m.

"The group performed well in the second quarter increasing net fee income by 16% year-on-year with our Asia Pacific and Continental Europe regions again delivering the strongest performances," said chief executive Robert Walters.

"Looking ahead, despite the uncertainty in the UK market, the strength of our globally diversified business, our robust balance sheet and blend of permanent, contract and recruitment process outsourcing revenue streams, ensures we are well positioned to take advantage of growth opportunities where they arise."

At 12:08 BST, shares in Robert Walters were up 3.92% to 265p.
