Raheem Sterling is set to be recalled to the England starting team on Monday night against Iceland, in the Three Lions' crucial last 16 encounter with Iceland in Nice at Euro 2016.

The Manchester City player had been dropped in the team's final group game against Slovakia after a couple of poor performances in the opening two games with Russia and Wales.

Harry Kane is also set to fend off the advances of in-form Jamie Vardy after he was also dropped for the game against Slovakia. Adam Lallana is the man to miss out against the minnows.

Roy Hodgson's side go into the game as strong favourites (1/2 with PaddyPower), but Iceland have impressed many at the tournament so far, picking up points against Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal and recording a famous victory over Austria to set up the clash with England.

They are enjoying their first major tournament and have been one of the big surprise packages of the Euros.

England have struggled to impress thus far, however, and finished second in their group to close neighbours Wales, despite mounting a late comeback to see off Chris Coleman's team.

Sterling, such a key performer for Hodgson at the 2014 World Cup, started the team’s first two Group B fixtures and was impressive for periods against Russia in the opening match in Marseille but as has been his case for a long time, lacked the finished product.

The same was true against Wales, where he was hooked at half-time as both he and his team lacked any cutting edge.

As well as Sterling, Harry Kane is under pressure as the Premier League's top goalscorer has not hit the net so far in the tournament, amid increasing calls for Vardy to replace him.

The game kicks off at 8pm in Nice.
