FTSE 250 movers: Energy stocks mixed as price of oil continues to fall
Updated : 16:34
Energy stocks were mixed on Wednesday as some continued to rebound after the recent drop in oil prices shook up the market and others began to fall again.
EnQuest topped the risers list after topping Tuesday’s list of fallers. The company’s stock was reissued with an overweight rating by HSBC in a research note published Wednesday morning.
Northgate also rose after announcing a pre-tax profit increase of 70% year-on-year to £46.7m in the six months to 31 October yesterday. The vehicle hire company had its 'buy' rating reissued on Wednesday by equities research analysts at Berenberg Bank.
The broker said: “Northgate reported a positive set of H1 2015 results yesterday, highlighting that the business was trading slightly ahead of current market expectations. Notably the company saw a strong recovery in its Spanish business.”
Zoopla Property Group and Savills both advanced on Wednesday after speculation that a group of real estate agents including Savills will launch a new website called On The Market to challenge Zoopla early next year.
Meanwhile, Soco International and Afren both fell on Wednesday after rebounding from declining oil prices earlier in the week.
Just Eat topped the fallers list as it was revealed that its founding shareholders have sold a 7.7% stake in the firm.
