Friday preview: US, euro area inflation data in focus

Key amongst these will be the US price deflator for personal consumption expenditures covering the month of May.

Consensus is for a decline in headline and core PCE prices to 2.6% year-on-year in both cases, versus the Fed's target for 2.0%.

Also due out in the States is the final reading on the University of Michigan's consumer confidence survey for the month of June, including subindices tracking Americans' expectations for inflation over different time frames.

Investors will also be keeping a close eye on preliminary consumer price data for France, Italy and Spain in June.

In Japan meanwhile, a flurry of economic indicators are scheduled for release, including readings on consumer prices in Tokyo, industrial production and unemployment.

The possibility also exists that authorities in Tokyo will opt to intervene in foreign exchange markets.
