The leadership transition was first announced on 10 June.

Additionally, the company announced that Bart Leemans would step down from his position as an executive director on the Tristel board.

Leemans would continue with the company as managing director of Tristel SAS, focusing on expanding the French market.

Currently, there were no plans to replace him on the board.

Leemans joined Tristel's leadership in November 2018 after the company acquired the Ecomed Group, which had been Tristel’s distributor in Belgium, the Netherlands, and France.

The French market remained a significant area of growth potential for Tristel.

In the year ended 30 June, sales in France amounted to £3m, representing 7% of the group's total revenue of £41.9m.

That contrasted with 13% of sales generated in Germany, and 39% in the UK.

“I would like to welcome Matt to our company, and also thank Bart for his contribution to the board during his tenure,” said chair Bruno Holthof.

“He has brought with him great entrepreneurial spirit and drive and I am pleased that he will continue to contribute to the growth of the business through dedicating his efforts to the French market.”

At 1106 BST, shares in Tristel were down 2.14% at 467.27p.
