FTSE 250 movers: WOSG surges on results; Wizz flies lower
London’s FTSE 250 was down 0.9% at 20,791.37 in afternoon trade on Tuesday.
Luxury timepiece seller Watches of Switzerland surged as it said it was on track to meet annual guidance after trading for the first 18 weeks of the financial year had been in line with expectations.
The company said demand for key luxury brands, particularly products on registration of interest lists, remained strong in both the UK and US markets, outstripping supply.
Wizz Air flew lower even as the Hungary-based budget carrier reported a 1% rise in passenger numbers in August - setting a new record - although capacity fell due to continued groundings of aircraft using Pratt & Whitney’s GTF engines.
Wizz carried 6.2 million passengers during the month at an improved load factor of 95.4% versus 94.1% last year despite operated seat capacity being down 0.4% year on year due to the groundings.
