Wall Street futures were mixed ahead of the bell on Tuesday as Q3 earnings season gets set to kick up a gear.

As of 1250 BST, Dow Jones futures were up 0.08%, while S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 futures had the indices opening 0.03% and 0.09% weaker, respectively.

The Dow closed 201.36 points higher on Monday, building on solid gains recorded in the previous session.

Trade Nation's David Morrison said: "Today’s focus is likely to be on the Dow, given that three of its major constituents, UnitedHealth, Johnson & Johnson and Goldman Sachs, report third-quarter earnings before the open.

"So this should help set the tone for stocks, particularly financials, which got off to a positive start at the end of last week with solid reports from JP Morgan and Wells Fargo."

Elsewhere in the corporate space, Bank of America, Citigroup, Rio Tinto, United Airlines and Walgreens Boots Alliance will all report earnings on Tuesday.

On the macro front, the NY Fed's October Empire State manufacturing index will be published at 1330 BST, while Federal Reserve bankers Mary Daly and Adriana Kugler will deliver speeches at 1630 BST and 1800 BST, respectively.
