Heaton, a "highly experienced" mineral processing engineer with an extensive background in feasibility studies, project construction, plant commissioning and mine operations throughout South-East Asia, most recently led the development and operations of the Nui Phao tungsten-polymetallic project in Vietnam for Masan.
On Friday, Asiamet lifted its interest in the Beutong copper-gold project in Aceh, Indonesia to 80% following a single milestone payment of AUD 4.37m to increase its effective ownership in Beutong Resources subsidiary PT Emas Mineral Mumi, the mine's owner.
Peter Bird, Asiamet's chief executive officer, said, "Asiamet is extremely pleased to substantially lift its interest in this advanced high-quality copper-gold project at a time when the copper market is forecast to be moving into supply deficit and large copper development opportunities with nearby infrastructure are rare."
As of 1140 BST, Asiamet shares had dipped 0.48% to 10.20p.
