The AIM-traded company said the licences, collectively allowing for the production of 780 tons of salmon broodstock, were a pivotal development in expanding its production capabilities.
It said the two licences were distinctly allocated for different production environments - one permitting up to 360 tons for sea production and the second enabling the company to produce up to 420 tons on land.
That would double Benchmark’s current licensed production volume and strategically diversify its operations across various sites.
“Benchmark’s genetics operations are core to our ability to supply highly bio-secure salmon eggs to salmon producers year round,” said chief executive officer Trond Williksen.
“The grant of the new licences is a reflection of Benchmark’s leading position in the industry, track record and quality of our operations.
“The two new licences enable us to further increase security of supply of bio-secure, high quality eggs with high performing genetic traits for our customers supporting our mission to drive sustainability in aquaculture.”
At 1113 BST, shares in Benchmark Holdings were down 2.88% at 37.1p.
