Benchmark to receive first batch of broodstock in Autum 2019

Benchmark's new land-based salmon broodstock facility in Norway is ready to receive its first batch of broodstock and is expected to reach full capacity by Autumn 2019, the company announced on Monday.

The 10,000 square-meter facility, according to the company, would receive delivery of the first stock in November from Salten, the joint-venture partner of Benchmark's subsidiary SalmoBreed, with Salmon eggs from the stock expected to be produced in early Autumn 2018 and first test batch sales two months later.
The company also said the new facility would deliver eggs throughout the year for the duration of the production cycle and will be the first of its kind to do so in Norway.
In addition, SalmoBreed's breeding station in Lonningdal was also expected to be delivered in November with a fully biosecure system and capacity to produce more than 150m ova per year.
