The AIM-listed developer of so-called natural language generation technologies said it had signed a framework agreement for the configuration, development and licensing of applications using Arria's software with a major electric utility in the eastern United States.
Natural language generation is the process of generating natural language from a machine representation. Simple examples include systems which generate form letters.
The Arria NLG deal was for an initial application to create a problem detection dashboard in one of the utility's regional operation units.
Beyond that application, the framework includes terms for the future configuration and deployment of Arria's software.
"The application is the result of the exceptional technical expertise of our client's engineers, in combination with Arria's unique capabilities in computational linguistics and developing NLG applications", said Arria NLG chairman and chief executive Stuart Rogers.
"As this powerful decision-support application is deployed and gains broadening use at our client's sites, we anticipate increased opportunity in this industry, serving both this new client and other utilities in the United States and worldwide", Rogers added.
