Calum McConnell has been chosen for the post and will take over in December to replace Phil Doran. Doran is relocating to Scotland to continue to provide his services alongside the business’s development head Dr Kris Hyde.
The new MD has been previously working at US industrial giant Parker Hannifin for the last 19 years doing a number of business development and product management roles. According to the AIM-listed outfit, the market for energy storage in Germany is growing rapidly. The companys feels it is well placed to gain further traction in the area. The firm has deployed three power-to-gas units so far and has secured an order for a fourth 1 megawatt (MW) unit in March 2016.
Calum McConnell said: "The power-to-gas market provides a viable solution to a number of challenges faced by the decentralised energy sector as it grows, and I´m excited to join a company shaping this future market. As I transition into the new role, I´m looking forward to supporting the existing projects, meeting the customers, and growing the Company´s business in Germany."
Chief executive Dr Graham Cooley added: "This is a key appointment for ITM Power to develop a key market for our products and we're excited about working with Calum and developing our business further."
