The AIM-traded firm said the deal, worth £2.25m, would entail providing advanced real-time passenger information systems for Hertfordshire's bus shelters and key on-street locations.
Hertfordshire county, with a network of more than 4,200 bus stops serving a population of 1.2 million, had been actively working towards enhancing public transportation services, the company explained.
The local authority backed the ‘Bus Back Better’ strategy, aiming to provide a significant boost to public transport services throughout the county.
It said the systems and software from Journeo were expected to play a pivotal role in that regard, aligning with HCC’s outlined Bus Service Improvement Plans (BSIPs).
The process of planning, designing, and manufacturing the systems was currently underway, with the lion's share of the revenue from the deal expected to be realised by March 2024.
Journeo said the new orders aligned with its anticipated performance metrics for the 2023 financial year, and 2024.
Additionally, it added substantial weight to Journeo's already robust order book.
“We have been working with HCC for many years and are delighted they have chosen our latest display systems and software as we work closely with them to deliver their BSIPs,” said chief executive officer Russ Singleton.
“The UK government set out clear objectives with local authorities to deliver BSIPs of which providing the accurate and up-to-date information is key to encouraging a modal shift towards the use of public transport.”
At 1113 BST, shares in Journeo were up 0.93% at 190.75p.
