The AIM-traded firm said that under the terms of the deal, it would start work in December for a three-year programme worth £4.9m.
It said the agreement also included an option for extended maintenance services after the initial term.
“We are delighted to have been awarded this contract to develop and supply an important capability for biological threat detection,” said chief executive officer Arnab Basu.
“The pandemic has demonstrated the impact of biological incidents - whether it is through an act of terror or naturally emerging threats.”
Basu said governments globally were reviewing strategies to update their defences against such threats.
“We believe technologies that can provide information about emerging threats in near-real time will be a critical component of such strategies.”
At 1343 GMT, shares in Kromek Group were up 7.65% at 8.72p.
