The AIM-traded firm said he would, however, remain on the board of Kropz Elandsfontein as a non-executive director, and would also remain in a technical advisory capacity for the ongoing development of its projects, namely the Elandsfontein phosphate project in South Africa and the Hinda phosphate project in the Republic of the Congo.
Kropz said Steenkamp's executive responsibilities would be assumed by its chief operations officer, Michelle Lawrence.
In addition, the board announced the appointment of Louis Swart as its financial manager with effect from 1 October.
It said Swart previously served as the chief financial officer of Richland Resources, and financial manager for TanzaniteOne and Simmer & Jack Mines.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Pretoria, and an Honours degree in Commerce (Accounting) from the University of South Africa.
Swart is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants, and the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia.
“The board and I would like to sincerely thank Jan for his significant contributions to Kropz Elandsfontein over the past two years,” said chief executive officer Mark Summers.
“We are delighted that he will remain on the board as a non-executive director and look forward to his counsel in an advisory capacity as we continue to advance the Elandsfontein and Hinda projects.
“We would also like to welcome Louis to our team.”
