The AIM-traded independent power project developer and producer said the deal was for a seven month period, and involved the development of a possible wind farm at Goldcorp’s Cerro Negro mining project.
Cerro Negro is a 25,000 hectare mining property located on the low-level Patagonian plains, in the south Argentina province of Santa Cruz, at 600 metres above sea level.
It is less than 100 km west of Rame’s existing Cerro Coihue wind farm. Rame’s board said Cerro Negro could benefit from a similar highly energetic wind climate, typical for the Patagonian region.
"We have significant experience of working with the mining industry in both Chile and Argentina to provide reliable, renewable energy for remote projects,” said Rame CEO Tim Adams.
“We are delighted to be working with Goldcorp and very pleased to return to Argentina as the country looks forward to increasing economic development and to expanding its renewable energy sector."
Rame said the agreement with Goldcorp could lead to further cooperation during the construction and operational phase of the possible wind farm.
