The AIM-traded firm said they are Wi-Fi enabled and ready to transmit and receive high speed data in a similar way to smartphones.
It added that they are submersible, waterproof, salt-resistant and dust proof, with IP66, IP67 and IP68 environmental protection ratings and an easy-clean design, allowing the units to be rinsed in running water.
“The contract builds on our well-established strength in public safety - a market in which we have long held a world-leading position,” said Sepura vice-president of devices Gary Aitkenhead.
“It also marks a step forward in TETRA communications for the public safety organisation.”
Aitkenhead said the ability to utilise data applications so end-users can send and receive data, as they do with their smartphones, is a key new development.
“Along with the extended coverage and exceptional toughness, the SC20 series will drive efficiency, future-proofing the customer's investment while helping to meet their evolving communications requirements in the digital age.”
At 0919 BST, shares in Sepura were up 3.85% at 16.88p.
