The AIM-traded firm said the permit was being issued by the Nevada Bureau of Mining Regulation and Reclamation (BMRR), a bureau of the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP), and would be valid for the life of the project.
It also announced that the director of NDEP has issued a notice advising of his intention to issue a ‘Class II Air Quality Operating Permit’ (AQOP) for the operation of the mine and mineral processing plant based on a review of the company's application.
A Class II AQOP is for facilities not considered to be major sources of pollutants, and which emit less than 100 tons per year for any one regulated pollutant and emit less than 25 tons per year of total hazardous air pollutants, and emit less than 10 tons per year of any one hazardous air pollutant.
“The Director's intent to grant the AQOP permit is open to comment or objection until 11 September,” the board said in its statement.
“The AQP is for the operation of mobile crushing and screening plant for the production of a coarse horticultural grade perlite and a finer perlite suitable for grinding and sale as a natural pozzolan.
“It allows for 24-hour, year-round, on site mineral processing operations.”
In his review of the application, the director of NDEP reportedly stated that air dispersion modelling conducted by the applicant and the NDEP's Bureau of Air Quality Planning demonstrated that the company's proposals would not violate any air quality standard.
