The AIM-traded firm said the win furthered its strategy of extending its strong footprint in the UK bus market into light rail, and internationally.
It said the fleet was being introduced in the unnamed German city between 2018 and 2021, to replace and supplement existing vehicles on one of Europe's busiest and rapidly expanding metro systems.
Specified by Siemens on behalf of the metro system operator, each train would feature the latest evolution of Synectics' on-vehicle recording system, featuring built-in diagnostics to quickly identify and alert the operator of any potential issues.
“The transport market is increasingly seeking technology to provide integrated security and surveillance solutions that deliver longevity,” said Synectics chief executive Paul Webb.
“This contract reflects our commitment to developing tailored solutions that will evolve to meet changing needs, with a system that is enabled to support analytics and telematics integration.”
