The AIM-traded firm said the appointment followed a unanimous decision by the board, which determined an internal promotion was in the company’s best interests.
It said Balchin, who joined Thruvision as CFO in October 2022, had played a pivotal role in stabilising the company following the departure of former CEO Colin Evans in October.
Working closely with executive chairman Tom Black, the board said she had been instrumental in steering the business toward a return to growth in the second half of the financial year.
Balchin would continue to serve as CFO alongside her new responsibilities, supported by company secretary Hannah Platt, a qualified accountant.
Black would remain in his executive chairman role, maintaining a strong focus on the sales function, which was undergoing an internal review.
“I am delighted that Victoria is stepping up to chief executive,” said executive chairman Tom Black.
“Having worked with her for two years now and particularly closely over the past three months, I am certain that she is the right person to lead the Thruvision team as we enter a crucial phase on our journey to profitability.”
