Video: Ireland - the best football fans in the world

The best videos of the Irish support at Euro 2016

  • Football tournament in France has been marred by fan violence from English and Russians

Unfortunately, Euro 2016 has made the front page headlines for all the wrong reasons so far. Despite some cracking encounters and endless excitement on the pitch, fan violence in the cities of Marseille and Lille has put a black mark against the tournament hosted in France this summer.

However, the streets of France are not only populated by hooligans causing trouble. The majority of fans are enjoying themselves sensibly, and while no doubt on the hunt for a little mischief, causing no real problems.

One group of fans seems to stand out more than others in this regard however. Various videos have circulated social media websites of football fans from Ireland enjoying "the craic". Here are a few which showcase their good spirits:

The famous Yaya/Kolo Toure chant has made over the channel and here are the Irish fans joining in with a local to sing the Ivory Coast brother's inspired song.


Westlife are one of Ireland's great exports, and a few Irish gentlemen are seen here celebrating some of their most famous sons.


A few supporters stumbled across a Hungarian news reporter and decided to give his story a green tinge.


An elderly couple with a flat tyre felt the full force of Irish charm.

A Parisian got a surprise when he stepped out on his balcony to a heroes' welcome from these jovial fans.
