Friday preview: US economic data, Bodycote in the spotlight

They will include readings for monthly retail sales, industrial production and import prices all covering the month of October, alongside a reading on manufacturing sector conditions in the jurisdiction of the Federal Reserve bank of New York for November.

Across the Channel meanwhile, Eurostat is due to publish a reading for euro area consumer prices for the month of October.

No major economic releases are scheduled in the UK.

Among the UK corporates that are set to update investors at the end of the week is Bodycote.

Morgan Stanley's Robert Davies is forecasting the supplier of heat treatment services and specialist thermal processes will post a 0.9% decline in organic growth for second half 2019 sales due to headwinds in the Automotive and General Industrials segments.

Continued weakness in US shale markets was expected to have exerted a drag on the firm's Energy division.

Strength in Civil Aerospace on the other hand was expected to have been maintained, although a moderation from the "unusually high" rate of growth of 16.0% reached during the first half was anticipated.

Group margins were expected to be "similar" to those seen in the first half.
