Friday preview: UK GDP, US consumer confidence ahead
Investors' focus at the end of the week was to be on a reading for UK economic growth at the end of the third quarter which it was believed would show the country entering recession.
At 0700 GMT, the Office for National Statistics was expected to report a month-on-month decline of 0.4% in gross domestic product figure, split equally between services, industrial production and construction, according to Barclays Research.
Barclays's was projecting GDP growth of 0.5% quarter-on-quarter over the three months to September, followed by a 0.2% dip in the last quarter of 2022 and a 0.3% drop in quarter one of the following year.
Over in the States meanwhile, at 1500 GMT, the University of Michigan was set to release the preliminary results for its consumer confidence survey covering the month of November (consensus. 59.6).
In the euro area, at 0700 GMT the Federal Office of Statistics was expected to confirm that harmonised consumer prices in the euro area's largest economy accelerated from an annual pace of 10.9% in September to 11.6% for October.
Portuguese CPI were also due out, four hours later, and seen revealing an acceleration from 9.8% to 10.7%.
