Tuesday preview: German economic confidence index, US small business optimism in focus
Financial markets' focus on Tuesday will be on the euro area where Germany's ZEW Institute will release its closely-followed gauge of economic confidence for the euro area's largest economy covering the month of July.
Against that backdrop, European Union finance chiefs will be meeting in Brussels with Croatia's accession to the single currency among other matters on the table.
Stateside, the sole economic indicator due for release will be the National Federation of Independent Business' small business optimism index which is expected to be little changed from the month before at 93.0.
At 16.30 BST, Richmond Federal Reserve President, Thomas Barkin will be discussing the 'Recession Question' at an event in Charlotte, North Carolina.
No major economic releases are scheduled in the UK.
Investors will also likely be keeping an eye out for any potentially market-moving remarks from US Treasury Janet Yellen who is on tour in Asia to garner support for a scheme aimed at capping the price of oil that Russia exports, knowns as Urals blend.
