Tuesday preview: UK wage data, ZEW index in focus
Investors' attention come Tuesday would be on the latest UK wage data and their possible implications for the Bank of England.
At 0700 BST, the Office for National Statistics was expected to announce that wage growth excluding bonuses dipped from an annual rate of 7.2% over the three months to April to 7.1%.
According to Michael Hewson, chief market analyst at CMC Markets UK: "short term yields have continued to rise in anticipation of further rate rises in the coming months, and if this week's wage numbers for May continue to look sticky, the central bank may find it has no good options when it comes to getting prices under control."
The three-month rate of change in employment meanwhile was expected to have edged lower from 250,000 to 180,000.
Meanwhile, the ILO rate of unemployment was forecast to have remained at 3.8%.
Across the Channel, at 0900 BST the ZEW institute was to release its economic confidence survey for the euro area in July.
In Asia, overnight Japan's Cabinet Office would publish machinery orders data for the month of May.
