Wednesday preview: Capitol Hill, Coronavirus in focus
The focus in the middle of the week will continue to be on Capitol Hill and the make-up of the roughly $2trn government spending package that Congressmen are expected to vote on to help see the economy through the coronavirus pandemic.
That is of course news on the coronavirus permitting, with Italy and Spain the near-term centre of interest on that front, likely alongside a constant whirlwind of new information on the sickness and regarding possible treatments or vaccines.
Against that backdrop, at 0930 GMT the Office for National Statistics will publish a reading on consumer prices for the month of February.
Consensus is anticipating a drop in the year-on-year rate of price gains from 1.8% to 1.6%.
A survey on industrial sector conditions in March is also due out at 1100 GMT, courtesy of the Confederation of British Industry.
A revised reading on German business confidence for March from the IFO institute is also due out, at 0900 GMT.
