Black Friday deals not so cheap, says Which?
Black Friday is not the cheapest time to buy coveted new products, investigation from an independent UK consumer body has found.
According to Which?, out of 35 of the most popular tech, home and personal care products on sale during the year, 60% were sold for the same price or cheaper during other times of the year.
Yet many Black Friday shoppers rushed to purchase items thinking it was the cheapest day to do so.
The worst deals, according to Which?, included: The Neff Slide & Hide B44S32N5GB single oven which was sold for £494.99 at Currys/PC World on Black Friday 2016, after the advert claimed that the product cost £599.99 during September and most of October, but was sold for £45 less three weeks later.
The DeLonghi Magnifica S ECAM 22.360 bean-to-cup coffee machine, which the company said seemed to have a huge discount at Currys/PC World last Black Friday at the price of £349 after adverts said it had been sold for £729.99 for the majority of September and October, yet it was actually sold for £579.99 for almost three weeks of that time.
Also, the Oral B Pro 3000 crossaction electric toothbrush was advertised by Amazon, according to the group, as ‘Save 26%: was £40.49, now £29.99’. However, Which? discovered that it was actually £5 cheaper on at least two days in July.
