In a statement released on Wednesday, Amazon said that orders worldwide climbed by 60%, as well as a 50% increase from last year's one-day sale in the US.
"Prime itself is the best deal in the history of shopping, and Prime Day was created as a special benefit exclusively for our Prime members," said Greg Greeley, vice president of Amazon Prime.
The event launched last year in an effort to procure a similar sales panic to that of Black Friday or Cyber Monday, and the 2015 version received mixed resultys from punters.
Amazon says the Fire TV stick was its best-selling device. Overall, sales for Amazon devices tripled results from last year's Prime Day.

The company's own products did particularly well on the day, owing to the biggest discounts being applied as eager members of the retail commerce giant's project flocked to open their wallets.
Amazon shares are up 0.7% in Wednesday trading, and 65.5% for the last 12 months.
Greeley says that the fun will not stop there for Amzon Prime customers, saying the successful project will be making an appearance again next year.
"We want to thank our tens of millions of members around the world for making this the biggest day in the history of Amazon. We hope you had as much fun as we did. After yesterday's results, we'll definitely be doing this again," added Greeley.
Here are some highlights mentioned by the company in their press release:
Sold over 2.5x more Amazon Fire TV devices compared to Prime Day last year - Fire TV Stick was the best-selling Amazon device.
