Nissan snaffles eight-year International Cricket Council deal
Japanese car giant Nissan has signed an eight-year deal with the International Cricket Council (ICC) to become the sport’s main sponsor worldwide.
The group, Japan’s second biggest carmaker, will replace South Korean rival Hyundai as an ICC sponsor and will be a global partner of the cricket’s international showpiece events, including the ICC Cricket World Cup, the ICC Champions Trophy and the ICC World Twenty20.
The Yokohama-based company, which signed up as a sponsor of the UEFA Champions League last year and is a commercial partner of the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, said the deal would deliver an extensive brand presence at ICC cricket venues worldwide.
Roel de Vries, the group’s global marketing chief, added Nissan would introduce new ways to improve the fans’ experience.
