Tesla to unveil electric lorry in October
Innovative US carmaker Tesla Motors will unveil its electric lorry as soon as October, founder Elon Musk said on Thursday.
Tesla had said last year it was preparing plans to build other vehicles apart from cars which run on electricity, and Musk confirmed that the electric truck will come out for its first test ride on October 26.
Musk will be hoping to make a dent on the traditional diesel lorries which dominate the market, as he has done with his electric cars.
The new electric lorry will be shown off at a site in Hawthorne, California, entrepreneur Musk confirmed via Twitter on Thursday.
"Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride tentatively scheduled for Oct 26th in Hawthorne. Worth seeing this beast in person. It's unreal," Musk tweeted.
Several governments across the globe are making major pushes to lower, and in some cases ban totally, diesel and petrol vehicles in an effort to combat climate change.
Tesla is currently ramping up production of its newest electric car, the Model 3, which is being marketed as the company’s most affordable vehicle yet at $35,000.
