Core Japanese CPI falls in October, as expected
Consumer prices in Japan continued falling for an eighth consecutive month in October.
The country´s so-called 'core' measure of the cost of living, which strips out fresh food, fell by 0.4% year-on-year.
That was in-line with economists forecasts.
Headline CPI was up by 0.1% year-on-year.
In parallel, the core-core gauge of the cost of living, which excludes both food and energy, increased by 0.2% year-on-year.
Core consumer prices in Tokyo, widely considered a lead indicator for the rest of the country, fell by 0.4% in November, which was also as expected. Overall, the Tokyo CPI was up by 0.5%.
As of 0926 GMT dollar/yen was 0.26% lower at 113.17, having earlier hit a low at 112.55.
