European car sales surge in November
European car sales surged 13.7% in November, according to data released by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association.
This marked the 27th consecutive month of growth and totalled just under 1.1m units.
New car sales in Spain, Italy and France rose 25.4%, 23.5% and 11.3%, respectively.
New car sales in Germany were up 8.9%, ahead of November last year, while sales in the UK increased 3.8% after declining in October.
Over 11 months, new passenger car registrations rose 8.7% reaching just over 12.6m units and surpassing 2014 full year volumes.
Sales of new cars from Volkswagen were up 2.8% in November, while sales of the VW group, which includes Audi, Porsche and SEAT, rose 4.1%.
However, VW’s market share slipped to 24.3% from 26.6% last year.
