German consumer prices fall flat in October
German consumer prices consumer prices fell flat in October, data released on Thursday showed.
According to Destatis, Germany’s statistical office, the consumer price index rose 0.3% year-on-year last month compared with a flat reading in the previous month and with analysts’ expectations for a 0.2% gain.
Energy prices tumbled 8.6% year-on-year, registering a second consecutive month of decline, while food prices increased 1.6% from the corresponding period in 2014.
Month-on-month, the CPI was also flat from the previous month, compared with analysts’ expectations for a 0.1% decline.
Meanwhile, the harmonised index of consumer prices climbed 0.2% month-on-month in October, compared with a 0.2% decline in September and analysts’ expectations for an unchanged reading.
