Italian industrial prices fall in January
Industrial prices declined in Italy at the start of the year, weighed down in particular by the drop in prices on goods sold domestically.
The country's industrial price index registered a fall of 0.7% month-on-month and were 2.5% below those of a year ago, according to ISTAT, the country's statistics office.
Versus December 2015 the price of goods sold domestically declined by 0.8% - led by a 2.5% decrease in energy prices - and those sold abroad by another 0.4%.
Within the latter, the prices of goods sold in the Eurozone retreated by 0.2% and those sold outside the single currency area by another 0.4%.
In terms of quarterly rates of change industrial prices fell by 1.2% in the latest three month period.
